Red Light, Green Light
Leonard Weisgard (with A.P. Tedesco), 1944
Description
Juror Notes
The text of this book, not a story but a little prose poem with the sudden starts and halts of modern traffic, is expressed with remarkable fluidity by the pictures in their progress across double-spread oblong pages. They have contrapuntal themes (red and green), fortes and pianissimos, slow and quick tempos, and rests, interpreting the music of the poem; and the pictures are vividly reproduced in a grisaille of black and brown inks, with punctuation of red and green.
