The Killing Machine
Eggers + Diaper, Berlin, Germany, 2007
Description
Artists Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller produce installations that blur the distinctions between real and the imagined, often employing parallel or alternative realities that raise questions about the objectivity of experience. Their work orchestrates a wide range of technologies and source materials. The structure and design of the book reflects this richness, emphasizing the literary sources that have influenced the artists’ approach. These sources are presented using a range of “real” and “fictitious” techniques.
Juror Notes
The colors of the section and chapter starters shift in a subtle way as the book progresses. The typography in section starters is elegant: it counters and comments on the rest of the content well.
