The book is a pictorial study of baboon, chimpanzee and man, depicting the morphological similarities and differences among them. The 149 plates present comparative views on double-page spreads along with descriptive text. The illustrations are reproduced faithfully in one impression. The only budget cut was the use of Linotype heads for plates instead on handset type. It is a straight-forward, direct design job.
