Hours

Description
Ken Lohf, former president of the Grolier Club and head of special collections at Columbia University, is also a poet who publishes his work occasionally. Being an avid book man, he takes the physical appearance of books seriously. His first publications were printed by the Janus Press and Bembo Typographers, but for the past few years I have had the honor of printing his books. He has always allowed me to do more or less as I wished in designing his books, always in close consultation with him, and often leading to fine papers, bindings, etc. For this book I was immediately struck by the underlying religious nature of the text. The title referring to medieval Books of Hours, gave me a clue to treat this text with ruled borders in the manner of the early printed and manuscript Books of Hours.
