Caught Inside is one man’s account of a year spent surfing off the coast of California. With the cover I juxtaposed the tranquilness of waiting for the perfect wave (front cover) with the rush of being wiped out by one (back cover). Wayne Levin’s beautifully enigmatic photographs of surfers add a surreal touch to the cover design. The use of spot gloss on the overall matte cover is used to convey the tactile qualities of a surfboard (glossy decals and polyurethane combined with the waxy texture of grip wax).
