Since this short-story collection was going to be in the hands of a new generation, the intent was to remind readers that these master authors were interesting characters who told stories that are relevant for us today. Inspired by my creative director’s idea of a collage approach, and my publisher’s idea of “little army men,” I cut out paper dolls of each author, photographed them and framed them with strong type against bold colors, thus bringing new life to this reissued series.
