The book contains letterpress reproductions of a 16th century woodcut series designed by Hans Holbein and cut by Hans Lutzelburger. Introductory essays explain the history of the woodcuts, and the phenomenon of The Dance of Death. This was a private project conceived, designed and printed by Katy Homans and Amy Montague. It was financed by Philip Hofer, who loaned original prints for reproduction. It was distributed by David R. Godine, Publisher.
