"Rebel with a Cause" Poster
Nike, Inc., Beaverton, Oregon, 1989
Description
This parody of the famous James Dean photograph taken in Times Square makes cheeky reference to the film classic "Rebel Without a Cause." McEnroe plays the irreverent hero whose outlandish on-court antics often threatened to undermine his professional standing. Nonetheless, he became an icon and the sport grew in popular appeal. This poster was such a market success it completely sold out.
