The eerie keynote is struck in the cloudy picture printed by offset on the cloth sides of the binding; on the backbone the title is stamped in gold on a dark gray underprinting. A tipped-in title-page also printed by offset repeats the clouds and again sounds an ominous note, but its types prepare the way for the rest of the book in letterpress, which, unfortunately, is merely up to usual standards of style and workmanship.
