Art for the Nation: Collecting for a New Century
National Gallery of Art, Washington, District of Columbia, 2000
Description
This book accompanies an exhibition of works acquired or given to the National Gallery over the past 10 years, and was designed with a dual audience in mind: donors and collectors, as well as general museum visitors. Creating a consistent yet variable format to accommodate the wide scope of works—size, category and medium—and last minute additions were probably the biggest challenges. In the end, the puzzle pieces fit together and I was pleasantly surprised by the cohesion of the book and by the fine quality of the reproductions on the Xantur paper.
