AIGA Conference Poster

Stefan Sagmeister, 1997

Description

As it reads in the tiny squiggly type on the top corner of this poster for the National Design Conference of the American Institute of Graphic Arts in New Orleans: Why a headless chicken? Is it a metaphor for the profession? Should we stop running around like one and sign up for this very interesting conference? Is it a Voodoo symbol? Anti-technology? Will a mixture of telephone scribbles and turn-of-the-century Art Brut really be the hot new style replacing wood veneer, itsy-bitsy type in boxes, and round corners? Wasn’t New Simplicity supposed to come first? Euro-Techno?
