DJ UPPERCUT What You Standin’ For

DJ UPPERCUT What You Standin’ For

Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, 2005

Description

UC’s album Street Revolution is a call to action, challenging the current state of hip-hop across the globe, urging the masses to evolve and create a new kind of hip-hop, inspiring revolutions within us. The web-only video for the lead track “What You Standin’ For,” featuring Rosco P. Coldchain, depicts his aggressive, socially and politically charged lyrics in a raw graphic form. The fast-paced narrative uses bold typography, as well as graphic abstractions of UC and Rosco P. inspired by urban landscape.

Juror Notes

Great typography.
Three-dimensional. Again, it had elements outside the expected vernacular.
