A Very Liquid Heaven

A Very Liquid Heaven

Heavy Meta, New York, New York, 2005

Description

This exhibition catalogue explores the problem of permanence versus mutability and the perception of time. AVLH explores the human perception of stars, with an emphasis on the contrast between the traditional picture of immutable points of light and the modern picture of physical objects, many of which dramatically pulse or even catastrophically explode. AVLH features historical photographs and atlases from the 16th century to the present, videos by Charles and Ray Eames and Bill Viola, drawings, sculpture, paintings and prints by Kiki Smith, Russell Crotty, John Torreano, Duane Michals, Vija Celmins, Karen Arm and Sebastian Romo, among others.
