Penwest 1996 Annual Report
Leimer Cross Design Corporation, Seattle, Washington, 1996
Description
Penwest is a diversified corporation focused on the development of highly modified starches for use in paper, food, and pharmaceutical industries, making customers as important a part of the audience as the shareholders. While efforts in pharmaceutical companies currently hold the greatest promise for growth, the paper industry has remained the main user of Penwest products, driving the design to address paper and reproduction techniques in a way that showcases the company’s products as well as those of its customers. We used laser cutting, die cutting, engraving, and offset lithography (both match and process color) to demonstrate a wide array of reproduction techniques. It works because it is understated and relies on details that support, rather than compete with, the key messages the company wishes to communicate.
