Trust: Music from the Highway Community
Becky Brown, Sunnyvale, California, 2000
Description
The challenge was to communicate the idea of trust in a compelling graphic environment while staying true to the fairly rough-hewn style of the music. The design solution was to use the blank road sign as the centerpiece for not only the cover art, but the entire CD concept as well. The photographs of cars and roads—even the instructional drawing on how to use a car jack—all tie into the idea of the sign pointing toward the right way. The rustic, almost Western typography reflects the rootsy, guitar-based vibe of the music itself. The CD was to be an accurate musical representation of the life and struggles of being a Christian, and also an authentic slice of postmodern life that anyone could partake of.
