T Magazine
The New York Times, New York, New York, 2009
Description
The web design group of The New York Times was tasked with the redesign of the T Magazine website. This entailed bringing the development and production of the site in-house and integrating with nytimes.com systems and templates.
With collaboration between the T Magazine art department and The Times web design group, a robust platform was designed to not only accommodate the magazine’s various content types but also reflect the brand’s elegance and create a stage for the magazine’s beautiful photography. The expanding homepage image is a nod to the visually immersive experience of a magazine cover. And while the site was built in HTML, various magazine features were translated into Flash interactives to allow the user to view images and video in full-screen mode.
Juror Notes
I love the clean, quiet interface that serves as a pedestal for the compelling content. The typographic sensitivity and beautiful photography make me want to stay on this site forever.
