Rain is the first novel by the author Kirsty Gunn. Existing as a rather short manuscript we decided to produce this book in a smaller format than usual. The story takes place over the course of one long languid summer in a young girls life. There is water imagery throughout. What I like about this jacket is that not ony does Jock Sturges’s gorgeous photograph capture the essence and impending doom of the novel but it also works with the title to take this jacket to another level of meaning. We tried to create a beautiful yet understated package and I think we succeeded.
