Fusion Restaurant Environment
Adams Morioka, Inc., Beverly Hills, California, 1995
Description
Fusion at pdc restaurant is a high-end restaurant located at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. The restaurant’s name and concept was created to incorporate a fusion of cultures and ideas, specific to the multi-cultural aspects of Southern California. The identity and interiors needed to compete within a market surrounded by other high-end restaurants such as Mortons, Chaya Brasserie and the Ivy. All aspects of the project including identity, signage, interior color and material, dinnerware and packaging were kept simple, straightforward and honest. This approach acted as a counterpoint to the clutter and ornamentation of competing restaurants in the area. The project proved that the audience of designers, architects, actors producers and agents were more than ready to accept a solution based on good basic design, no pretension.
