United Airlines EasyInfo gate display systems

Pentagram, San Francisco, California, 2000

Description

United Airlines asked Pentagram to design a digital gate information display system that would provide travelers with up-to-date flight and destination information. The gate display consists of two 40-inch rear projection AP/LCD screens mounted side by side above the gate agent at all United gates. By accessing United flight, operational and customer information in real time and allowing manual input capabilities, EasyInfo Gate Display provides the latest flight and destination information in a clear and concise manner. It also provides alerts to changing conditions, reduces complexity by eliminating unnecessary choices and directs customers to their next most likely action. The system was designed using Flash to allow for dynamic content, transitions and animations to alert customers to these changes and actionable items. Because the format and location in the gate environment was predetermined, we developed a system of rotating messages to maximize type size and legibility.
