The Bronx Defenders identity system
Pamela Hovland Design, Wilton, Connecticut, 2001
Description
The assignment was to create an appropriate and distinctive visual identity for a group of public defense lawyers, social workers and investigators committed to changing the criminal justice system in the Bronx. The audience for these materials includes the public defense community, the criminal court system, government leaders, and the organization’s clients, financial supporters and potential employees.
The end product is a unique system that avoids the typical tone and manner of most non-profit materials yet conveys the complexity of the community it represents. An array of photographic images captures aspects of life in the Bronx through the juxtaposition of people, urban details, infrastructure, community and architecture.
Juror Notes
“An honest use of photography. Really thoughtful.”
