This Annual Report Is Trash
Pattee Design, Des Moines, Iowa, 1996
Description
This provocative 1991 report was originally intended to help local business and community leaders reevaluate their attitudes about waste management. But since the Metro Waste Authority (MWA) had achieved very little public awareness at the time, the piece actually solved two problems. First, it positioned the MWA as a proactive, environmentally aware public agency. Second, it inspired people to reduce the amount of waste they generated. During design and production, care was taken to minimize the use of material. The paper stock, which included grocery sacks and pulp made from old newspapers, underscored the agency’s mission and message.
