Commissaires, Poster
Paprika, Montreal, Quebec, 2005
Description
Paprika was commissioned to create a poster for Commissaires, a new gallery and boutique in Montreal, to promote the launch of its opening exhibition, “Quelques designers des Pays-Bas” (“Designers from the Netherlands”). We decided to use a photo of one of the show’s most arresting pieces: a chair designed by Martin Bass, parts of which had been burned away. The blank spaces in the missing parts of the chair are filled with typography, so that the texts and information about the exhibit complete the image. The poster was silk-screened and displayed at various strategic locations around Montreal.
