The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Poster

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition Poster

Shearman & Sterling LLP, New York, New York, 2007

Description

The typographic poster, designed for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, integrates the competition’s hypothetical law question on human rights and terrorism using bold, simple typography and color. The design concept simulates a mass-produced propaganda tract that provokes a visceral response from the reader. The piece supports one side in the mock trial: a defendant freedom fighter captured by government forces. The gritty type-as-texture feel of the piece was achieved by layering multiple Xerox transfers and then offset printing onto newsprint. The poster’s text comes directly from the mock trial.
