Le Musée grandit (The Museum is growing)

Paprika, Montreal, Quebec, 2009

Description

Our mandate was to produce temporary signage for the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts to hide construction areas inside and out. Under the signature “The Museum Is Growing,” we created a colorful and fun environment by incorporating some objects and onomatopoeias associated with construction into pieces of the institution’s permanent collection. We used the color yellow—one of the museum’s corporate colors—as a thematic link.

As a result, an enjoyable environment displaced the regular disadvantages associated with construction. The corridors circling the rooms under renovation were admired in the same way as the museum’s regular exhibitions.

Juror Notes

Fun, engaging, temporary yet very interactive. Great adaptive use of the collection within.
