Lincoln on the Civil War
Christopher Brand Design, New York, New York, 2010
Description
Project brief: The client’s goal was to create a unique book that someone would buy as a gift. This was intended to be the type of book that a customer would walk past in the store and buy on a whim.
Approach: Because the illustration of Abraham Lincoln is so iconic, we were able to get away with keeping the title off the cover; instead it appears on the back. Also, we decided to print this cover on cloth over board instead of using a jacket.
Juror Notes
Spartan and economical design that permits the words within to take center stage. It’s everything it needs to be and nothing more.
