David Sandlin’s SVA subway posters
Visual Arts Press, School of Visual Arts, New York, New York, New York, 2010
Description
Project brief: SVA has a tradition of commissioning artists and designers to create posters that are displayed throughout the New York City subway system.
Approach: This series of three posters ran simultaneously, illustrated by David Sandlin, faculty member of the B.F.A, B.F.A. in Illustration and Cartooning, and M.F.A. in Illustration as Visual Essay departments. They are bright, colorful and detailed fantasias of an artist at work. Elements of each poster carry over into the others.
Effectiveness: The subway poster is intended for prospective students and the entire SVA community. David’s posters have gotten a lot of positive feedback from the school, students and artists.
