SHOW OFF: It’s a Jungle Out There
Design Army, Washington, DC, Washington, District of Columbia, 2010
Description
Project brief: To promote a student-only competition that lets students highlight their skills in open-category competitions.
Approach: It’s a competition for scarce resources. The work environment can be cruel and the business climate is harsher than ever. To survive, you’ve got to adapt. The 2010 AIGA Show Off lets students display the traits that separate them from the herd. They will strut, scratch, prance and claw their way to the top. Hell, some may even make a monkey out of themselves just to prove that they can lead the pack. It’s the student-only competition that allows the young-buck designer to become a prized trophy at a big-shot design firm.
Effectiveness: This was the third year in a row that we designed the site. Each year it gains more and more support and recognition.
Juror Notes
Simple and totally fun. Unexpected interaction and color palette. Restrained and effective in its simplicity.
Surprisingly engaging. Interactions were unexpected. Unique and restrained color palette. Who can resist a kitten with a bow tie? Felt like a moving print piece.
