Neben seinen Schnürsenkeln in einen leeren Kühlschrank laufen
Eggers + Diaper, Berlin, Germany, 2007
Description
Neben seinen Schnürsenkeln in einen leeren Kühlschrank laufen (Walking next to your shoelaces in an empty refrigerator) is the title of a text written by Chantal Akerman for a video installation. This installation deals with the fragility of identity and how easily it can become obscured or lost. As part of the installation, this text was projected onto a gauze-like material at the Jewish Museum Berlin. For the book cover, this material was used as a dust cover, interacting with and partially obscuring the text beneath.
Juror Notes
A gauze jacket, partially obscuring the book's title, serves as a metaphor for the fragility of Jewish identity.
