Description
Each season, Karla Colletto reinvents her line of swimsuits to keep up with the ever-changing fashion industry. The challenge is to make the new line marketable and memorable to purchasers, retailers and the magazine community. In 2009, the designer marked 25 years and we needed to make a splash. We proposed a retrospective look at past lines and designs, but given the economic downturn, we had to be resourceful. With half our normal budget, we proposed a book half the size of previous years. To save money, we opted to work with cheap talent (mannequins) and shoot in a small studio in Washington, D.C. While it took more than five days to style and shoot the images, the end result was well worth it.
Juror Notes
Strong graphic images and a fun reading experience, eclipsed only by the imagery itself. A wonderful blend of design, image and personality.
