Hollywood & Highland retail environment signage
Sussman/Prejza & Co., Inc., Culver City, California, 2001
Description
Conceptually, the project-related graphics for the Hollywood & Highland retail environment are inspired by the cinematic interplay between light and shadow on a flat surface. The system uses only black and white to brand and identify this part of Hollywood as a place formed originally by the art of moving pictures. Classic film icons such as searchlights, extreme perspective and cropped images—attributes made “real” by the eye of the camera—inspired the identity.
Juror Notes
“Though these are two projects, they relate together because of their play of shadow and light. Really imaginative and appropriate.”
