A Million Little Pieces

Rodrigo Corral Design, New York, New York, 2003

Description

A Million Little Pieces is James Frey’s story of going through rehab at the age of 23 for drugs and alcoholism. Because this book is a memoir, the publisher wanted it, like all memoirs, to have a “human element.” Photography was chosen for this reason. The close-up of the hand supplies the human element while the candy sprinkles speak to the title as well as the idea of multicolored pills.

Juror Notes

“How interesting that the image makes you feel uncomfortable—good reflection of the content.” Isabel Warren-Lynch
