The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis

The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis

Farrar, Straus and Giroux, New York, New York, 2009

Description

The small, weighty trim size and electric salmon color of this jacket design are what make it so satisfying to me. We used a laid paper stock for a trusted, literary feel. My aim was to create a design for Lydia Davis’ collected writings that looked both monumental and curious.

Juror Notes

It is so difficult, given the demands facing today’s publishing houses, to make a cover this simple (and convincing). We loved the combination of stolid type and whimsical rules, and felt that the color choice was inspired.
