Craig Carothers “Air Mail Blue”
Bob Smith, 1996
Description
Being lazy, it’s always nice when someone hands you a project like this, and with a title like “Air Mail Blue,” it’s hard to blow it. While the imagery was a easy call, I really wanted to do it right, keeping away from any half-baked retro imagery. The envelope on the cover contained the actual letter the title song was named for, and I just scanned it straight on to the glass, and fussed with it to pop the shadows.
The image for the actual disk is always fun to mess around with, and for this one, I thought it'd be fun to make it look like a cocktail coaster. But you shouldn’t really use it for a coaster, because it’s a good record.
