Harcourt Brace Math Textbook
Hornall Anderson Design Works, Seattle, Washington, 1998
Description
The client, Harcourt Brace, needed a series of book covers for their math textbooks. There were three essential criteria for the design process: animals had to be used for the lower grades; bold colors were deemed essential for getting the readers’ attention; and numbers had to be incorporated in with the animal graphics in the overall design. In addition, large, embossed, reader-friendly type was also used. These books are sold at educational trade shows. The benefit of these boldly designed book covers is that it makes the books seem less technical, more fun and appealing to children.
