Smoke and Mirrors
The New York Times Magazine, New York, New York, 1995
Description
These powerful, graphic images were shot for a beauty feature in The New York Times Magazine. Their message, however, has less to do with make-up than it does with photography, manipulation and style. The power and simplicity of the images, deriving from their focus on parts, called for simple, elegant typography. The strength here is in juxtaposition, and in what is left out.
