Haymarket
Muriel Cooper, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1970
Description
The sights and sounds of Haymarket, Boston’s open air food market, have been captured live by the photographer. She has spent many hours with its people, recording her impressions on film and tape. The result, Haymarket, alternates some 60 candid photographs of the district and its citizens with the candid vernacular of their talk.
Designer’s Comments: There was the interesting problem of keeping text material subordinate to the photographs, but allowing it to embody the aural quality of taped interviews. The grid is used with relative freedom.
