Slant: Summer Issue #3, #4, #6
Urban Outfitters, In-House, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1995
Description
Slant is targeted at an 18-30 year old male and female college educated audience both visually and literarily inclined. Our objective is to present information in a unique and visually compelling format that allows the viewer the opportunity to enjoy the newspaper even if they don't read it. Each issue of Slant focuses on a central theme. Freelance designers and illustrators are used in order to supplement the overwhelming work load and also to lend the newspaper diversity in personality and style. We value this project because it is conceived entirely and by the people that work in the Urban Outfitters Art Department and predicated on the likes and interests of us and us alone. We believe Slant demonstrates excellence in communication graphics because of its ability to communicate efficiently and effectively on two levels - visual and literal, that effectively compliment each other, and also because of its variety and versatility in both disciplines necessary to satisfy Slant’s diverse and culture-oriented constituency.
