New Directors New Films

The Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York, 2009

Description

Jointly produced by the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the New Directors/New Films Festival marked its 38th year in 2009. These booklets represent the first two years after a major re-branding that revitalized awareness of the cutting-edge cinematic offerings and conveyed the boldness of a new generation of young filmmakers. Distributed at screenings sites and other local theaters, the 140-page, pocket-sized program was conceived with a dual purpose in mind. On the one hand, it serves as a functional guide, with its portable size and clear layout allowing filmgoers appealing and easy access to schedules, locations and synopses. On the other, it catalogs vividly the festival’s offerings, generating excitement and serving as a record of the year’s selections, with engaging graphics and striking stills throughout. The project’s logo and visual language were designed to be distinctive and modular, translating equally well across a diverse range of applications, from the festival’s website to print ads to a large subway poster.
