Public Space/Culture Wars
David Mellen Design, Los Angeles, California, 1996
Description
The objective of this program was to attract a broad audience, not limited to academics and intellectuals, to a debate on the role that art and culture play in the shaping of public life. We believe that this poster facilitated the understanding of the program through the use of a familiar visual icon—the picket fence—combined with inviting, well-written text that expands on the fence metaphor and encourages readers to consider their position in the debate. The 17” by 26” size was chosen for printing efficiency and easy posting on bulletin boards.
