The Art of Travel book
Pantheon Books, New York, New York, 2002
Description
I was asked to design a cover with a sophisticated appearance that would attract adults interested in the concept of traveling. The concept was to create a package that would have a slight resemblance to someone’s leather travel journal worn through the years. Since the book had an intimate quality, its size was a consideration, as most journals are small and easily packed. The finishing touch was the gold stamping, accenting the sublime qualities of travel. Using real leather was out of the question due to cost, so we had to manipulate a printable material to match the characteristic of a piece of worn leather. The final outcome was a success in the eyes of myself and the client!
