The Craftsman
Penguin Group UK, London, England, 2009
Description
The Craftsman is cultural studies/sociology for a general audience. It is aimed at anybody interested in how the principles of pre-industrial craftsmanship can be applied to the broad spectrum of modern professional and social roles.
B-format paperback with CMYK printing and one finish. I chose deboss to give the pencils a three-dimensional, tactile quality. The image had to be a strong and accessible symbol of craftsmanship, applicable to a broad range of activities.
Juror Notes
The pencils as tools of a craft—just perfect. Use of type and color exquisitely integrated into concept.
