Targets, 1961, no. 32
Paul Davis, New York, New York, 1961
Description
Davis developed his influential illustrative style based on primitive German wooden targets. By distressing the wood, he made these look as though they were, in fact, used as real targets. Davis’s version of the Boston Massacre also humorously included the likenesses of Chwast, Glaser, Seltzer, and Myrna Mushkin (Davis’s future wife).
