Everyone involved in Push Pin was fascinated with odd letterforms and spent a lot of time digging through old type specimen manuals. This is one example of their discoveries. The illustrations by Ruffins, Glaser, and Chwast fit into boxes with rounded corners. Chwast notes that this “started a trend for such corners among designers at the time.”
