Nuclear Fear, 1959, no. 21
Seymour Chwast, Milton Glaser, Reynold Ruffins, New York, New York, 1959
Description
This issue is an example of Push Pin’s political interests, with quotes from Consumer Reports, Linus Pauling, Albert Schweitzer, and the London Times about the dangers of nuclear catastrophe. Glaser’s stark drawing of a pregnant woman derives from the same formal influences that inspired his illustration in issue number 19. Chwast’s strolling children were done in pen and ink to gain more control in the details than with woodcut. Ruffins drew this eerily reclining child.
