Alphabeasties and Other Amazing Types
Werner Design Werks Inc., Saint Paul, Minnesota, 2009
Description
Blocky or small, thick or tall. Roundish, slopey, fancy or dopey. Letters look different in all different places. That’s because they have different typefaces. Alphabeasties are here to show kids (and grown-ups!) that typography is fun. Type has a personality and can express more than just the word it spells. And although a Clarendon g looks completely different from a Futura g, they both make the same g sound.
Juror Notes
This book is a really energetic, spirited and sophisticated take on the animal-themed ABC book. The die-cuts and foldouts ensure there is plenty for children to learn and discover.
