Healthy Brain/Unhealthy Brain
National Geographic Magazine, Washington, District of Columbia, 1995
Description
Diagrams can barely tap the mystery of the brain, an object of endless wonder. After extensive consultations with leading neurologists, the designers opted to suggest the brain’s mystique on both side of a magazine gatefold. The folded flap displays a healthy brain’s anatomy, summarizes its growth, and describes how neurons and synapses work. In contrast, the open gatefold illustrates the causes and physiological effects of three common brain diseases.
