Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Stefan Salter, 1944

Description

Juror Notes

This is an impressive book, in bulk, quantity of illustrations, and price. It is a good book largely in its illustrations. On one side of each sheet, (as printed), the illustrations are in black and three colors; on the other they are in black only. Obviously the publisher has thus balanced his artistic hopes and his practical necessities; but one could wish that all the pictures might have been in full color, or else in one color (other than black) only. The type page is a trifle open for so fat a book, but it does go well with the light effect of the pictures. The binding and display lack character.
