Reading Lessons
Anne Fink, New York, New York, 1998
Description
In designing Reading Lessons, I placed myself back in first grade tackling what seemed like an insurmountable puzzle. How do I make sense of these forms? Combining phonics, word recognition, and sheer will, many of us are able to become literate. The book focuses on those who are not and why.
The jacket is designed to make us remember and pay attention to the process of learning how to read. It uses what are at first unrecognizable letter forms to have us re-experience the process and the self-acknowledgment that comes when one literally and mentally understands what one has read.
