Hans Neleman CD-ROM

Neleman Studio, New York, New York, 1996

Description

Plug in photographer Hans Neleman’s new self-promotional CD-ROM and Silver Girl, the naked, silver-painted emcee, appears, hypnotically waving her arms to an eerie chant. Celestial patterns blink across your screen and Silver Girl performs an erotic dance to grinding heavy metal music. The music gets louder and faster as a series of photographs flashes on your screen at stroboscopic speeds.

This blistering bit of multimedia is what Neleman calls a study in “music, momentum, and speed.” The interactive CD features more than 300 of Neleman’s photographs, shown in rapid-fire succession and powered by a compilation of rock, jazz, and classical music. Also featured are film segments of his commercials and music videos as well as photos of his Manhattan studio and shots from the family album. To create Silver Girl, Neleman snapped hundreds of still photos of the model in various movements. After scanning the images, the designer manipulated them digitally. The CD-ROMs were mailed to creative directors and advertising agencies nationwide.
