Fashion Center Information Kiosk

Fashion Center Information Kiosk

Pentagram, New York, New York, 1996

Description

As part of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s Local Assistance program, the Fashion Center Business Improvement District (BID) has installed an information kiosk for tourists at 39th Street and Seventh Avenue in New York City. Pentagram was asked to make the structure easy to find in the visual confusion of the streetscape.

Pentagram has designed a structure that is identified by a huge polyester resin button held in place on its roof by a giant stainless steel needle. The button is a magnified 3-D version of the logo that Pentagram devised for the Fashion Center BID.
